The video is worth seeing. Make sure to talk to a park ranger to get info about uniforms and gear.
Well curated National Park. Beautiful countryside. The museum has one of the best historical firearms collection I've seen. It's not very easy to put together a clear picture of the major battle fought here. If you're not a big fan of the historic period, maybe just skip it. There's not much else to do in the depressing towns nearby.
Awesome place full of history and monuments that cause us to remember. The grounds and facilities are extremely well kept and it is all free!
And the park also houses one of the finest collections of U.S. long arms extant, but a few of which I photographed.
Few finer examples of courage in chaos exist in U.S. military history. No one on the field fully understood how the battle raged , yet individual brigade and corps commanders, along with common soldiers, somehow prevented a complete Federal collapse. It always comes down to the privates - to the everlasting glory of the infantry.
Excellent video presentation in the theater. Impressive gun/rifle collection. There is a smartphone tour you can take of the entire park.
